incinerator rock at Golden Hour

Sunset at Incinerator rock near Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Last year we spent Christmas on Vancouver island, staying in Ucluelet and going out each day to explore. We came to the beach with incinerator rock on it shortly before sundown, and the light turned this color. It was another wonderful day and a nice way to start off the new year.

While I was in Montreal in March working at Mikros Image on Captain Underpants we had a huge snowstorm. A few hours and this was what we had from empty streets. It was fun, but I'm not sure I would be riding my bike in it. At least he had Fat tires!

snowy sierra

In January Machelle and I took a road trip to California to visit her parents. A lot of snow fell on the way, and we took the backroads to avoid clogged highways. After staying over night in Reno we headed toward Columbia through via lake Tahoe, keeping an eye out for pictures on the way. This was a quick stop off the highway on the east side of the Sierra's before we drove through to Tahoe.

Once we reached lake Tahoe we found a winter wonderland. we parked the car and pointed the camera in every direction, find gorgeous pictures everywhere.

One weekend in the summer Machelle and I decided to take Taz and head down to the cascades to explore. It was very Smokey from fires in British Columbia and we never actually saw Mt' Baker although we drove all the way around it. This was from a hike we did in the mountains.

in North Vancouver there is a long, but easy hike to a waterfall called Norvan Falls (get it?). I took the time one day when I wasn't working and hiked the 20 odd kilometres there and back to do some long exposures.

Exploring more of Vancouver, Machelle and I found a little park off the end of the runway at Vancouver Airport. We certainly had some nice clouds that day.

The grafitti in Montreal was first rate. When Machelle and my mother were visiting me there we took a walk out my back door and found all kinds of great stuff. This fellow leaning on the tree appears to have had a bit to drink, though he should probably pick up his can.

When Machelle and I drove down to California for Christmas this year, we took a day to hike Table mountain near Sonora. Up on top of the mountain these crows were keeping an eye on things and apparently pecking away at the sun.

Italian Day on Commercial Drive in Vancouver has everyone out walking around. This fellow seems to have been selling a few things and entertaining himself at the same time.

The Oregon coast is an amazing place, and I never seem to have enough time to explore it when we drive by. At least we took a little time this year to stop a bit.
